It was the only cafe in the county that still had a juke box, and to Cedric's knowledge it was the only juke box in the world that had his favorite band, Spike Jones. As soon as he discovered this little gem the cafe quickly became his second home; the proprietors were like kin to him, an older couple who shared the same strange fascination and childlike admiration for the silly music. In an odd twist of ironic fate Cedric became that which he looked down upon, a Regular, but somehow it didn't matter so long as he could sip on a frosty strawberry malt and sing along with the music.

Cedric's enthusiasm was infectious, and when any young boy would come into the cafe a Puckish gleam would come to Cedric's eye and he'd carefully select a song that was sure to have a belch in it. The kids loved him. In the hot summers there was often a small group of children dancing, singing, and belching with Cedric, all in time to the satirical music. The other patrons of the cafe had grown used to the antics, and on a rare occasion, when they thought no one was paying attention, a few would dance in their seats or chime in with their own musical notes.

On a particular sunny day one spring Cedric was shocked to find the cafe closed and locked. Confused and concerned he wandered around town looking for a pay-phone. He could not recall any mention of a vacation or any special occasion that would close the cafe. The day grew later and Cedric's search was proving fruitless. At the point when Cedric was about to abandon his search and use his home phone a young girl he recognized from the cafe came running up to him. She was waving her hands animatedly and from what Cedric could gather of her gasping message there was something going on at the cafe and he should get there as soon as he could.

Pausing only long enough to let the little girl catch her breath he hurried down the street making his way toward the cafe. When he got there he was in such a hurry he did not notice the overflowing parking-lot; he burst through the doors and frantically looked about for the proprietors, certain something terrible had happened to them. He stood there a full second before his brain caught up with his ears, realization slowly dawning on him. He stood in the middle of a surprise birthday party, and he was the guest of honor.

With a tearful smile Cedric let himself be seated and alternating from silent tears to raucous laughter allowed the kids to regale him with their live rendition of his favorite songs from his favorite band.
