Promethean Logophile is a community project with a twofold aim. Our first aim is to increase our vocabularies by exploring unusual, rare, and the occasional misused word. Our second aim is to encourage our authors to write, hoping and believing that frequent writing will improve our skills. To accomplish these aims a new word, along with its definition, is posted to the site (usually on Sunday) and authors then have one week to write a story using that week's word with no less than 300 and no more than 1,000 words. The stories are not edited, moderated, scored, or rated; we do check to make sure the stories adhere to a loose PG rating. Authors need not worry about impressing an audience.
We keep a glossary list of all our words. Authors are encouraged to use as many words as they can in their story while maintaining an air of seriousness for the craft. Any and all words used in a story will be highlighted, allowing for us to "show off" our how well some of the words have stuck in our creative craws.
Anyone who is interested in joining our ranks and becoming an author is free to do so. Simply register, and after registration send an email to seth at 0kelvin.net indicating your desire and your username on the site.
Readers are always welcome! If you would like to leave a comment first register then you will have access to leave comments.
